HERITAGE WALK

The Heritage Walk is a self-guided Walking Tour, through-out the West Broadway - South Sherbrook area.

Between the early decades of 1905 and 1925 the residents of West Broadway included provincial civil servants, employees of Eaton's and the CPR, several clergymen and those associated with the University of Manitoba, and Wesley College. West Broadway remained middle class mixed with upper class because of its proximity to valuable river front property. In the West Broadway area, houses would cost anywhere from $3000 - $5000, while north of Portage they would cost between $150 - $3000.

Walking tour brochures may be picked up at the Liberal Office at 635 Broadway, as well as any tourist information centre. Start your tour with the chapel itself, built in 1929, in the Italian Romanesque Revival style.
