STOREFRONT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM:
The goal of the Storefront Improvement Program is to assist businesses in the West Broadway BIZ area, (members in good standing) in improving their storefront and building exterior in order to enhance the commercial viability and safety of the BIZ area.
Eligible Improvements: Physical improvements which include exterior painting, wall finishes, signage, awnings, lighting, entryways, doors, windows, security cameras etc., which will contribute to the enhancement of the commercial viability and safety of the BIZ area. Eligible costs include the related labour and supply costs of an improvement, but not the costs related to zoning, permits, administration, legal and/or financing services.
Grant Information: Maximum grant available is $1,000. per member every 3 years, to be matched on a 50/50 basis by the applicant. The applicant will be responsible for paying for the related costs of an improvement prior to receiving the grant. Multiple improvements may be submitted on one application. Prior to reimbursement representatives of the BIZ board will review the application and inspect the improvements. All applications will be reviewed by the BIZ. Streetscaping Committee on a first come, first serve basis. Applicants will be informed of their approval from the BIZ board. Application for the grant must be submitted no later than 1 year after completion of the improvement.

WHITE LIGHTS PROGRAM:
Stay tuned for new and exciting developments with our white lights program. The old lights are coming down, and a new plan is underway!

STREETSCAPING PROGRAMS:
Planting Program: Every summer we have our area looking beautiful with hanging flower baskets as well as stately terracotta planters, over flowing with ‘wave petunias’ in various colors.
Wreaths: Every winter at the end of November the BIZ puts up festive wreaths on all the decorative light standards along Broadway and Sherbrook, to make the area look festive and inviting.

GRAFFITI REMOVAL:
Graffiti presents a challenge for the entire city of Winnipeg. As a result, the West End BIZ offers year-round graffiti removal service with the assistance of a dedicated crew of staff and volunteers who collectively make up the West End BIZ Graffiti Removal Team. They are primarily responsible for cleaning up graffiti from commercial properties, apartment blocks and residences in the West End community. However sponsorship and funding from other partners and the City of Winnipeg has allowed the West End BIZ to expand this service into an additional five BIZ zones. These include the Corydon Ave BIZ, West Broadway BIZ, South Osborne BIZ, Osborne Village BIZ and Academy Road BIZ. There is no cost to you, your BIZ organization has covered the cost.
WE CAN ONLY REMOVE GRAFFITI FROM PROPERTIES THAT HAVE A WAIVER FILLED OUT AND ON RECORD WITH US.
The more details you are able to provide us with, the quicker we will be able to respond with the appropriate removal technique employed by our team – whether that be pressure washing, graffiti wipes or paint-overs. This depends on the type of surface that was tagged.

Every few years we produce a directory for over 10,000 homes in and around the area. The directory is full of interesting information, as well as a complete listing of all the businesses in the BIZ area.
